Former President Grant Cornwell to speak at ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú™s commencement

WOOSTER, Ohio “ Grant H. Cornwell, president of Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla., will receive an honorary degree and address the graduating class at ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú™s commencement on Monday, May 15. The commencement exercises will begin at 10 a.m. on the south lawn of Kauke Hall, capping a weekend of celebration for the Class of 2017 and their families, friends, faculty, and staff.
Cornwell served as ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú™s president from 2007 to 2015 and brought a sharpened focus on strategic planning and priorities to the college, which set new records for applications in six of his eight years as president and achieved growing recognition as America™s premier college for mentored undergraduate research. ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú launched APEX, an integrated program for student academic and career advising, planning and experiential learning, built the Scot Center, a LEED Gold certified athletic and recreation facility, and transformed a 113-year-old school building into a one-of-a-kind student residence hall, Gault Schoolhouse.
Prior to the ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú presidency, Cornwell was vice president of the university and dean of academic affairs at St. Lawrence University from 2002 to 2007. Nationally recognized for his work in defining liberal learning in a global environment, he serves on the Council on Foreign Relations™ Global Literacy Advisory Board. Cornwell holds a bachelor™s degree in philosophy and biology from St. Lawrence University and a master™s degree and doctorate in philosophy, both from the University of Chicago.
