˾ Science Café continues fall season with The Science of Gerrymandering

˾ Science Café will continue its fall semester series on Wednesday, October 4, with The Science of Gerrymandering, featuring speaker Joseph Coll, assistant professor of political science at ˾. The event will take place at 7 p.m. in the Excelsior Room above Spoon Market & Deli (144 W. Liberty Street).

The talk will focus on this political issue from a scientific point of view. Participants will learn what gerrymandering is, how it works, and why it matters in the American political system.

This talk is the second in a series of events that will take place throughout the fall. Occurring the first Wednesday each month at Spoon Market & Deli, future ˾ Science Café events will include:

  • Nov. 1: Brian Webb, director of campus sustainability at ˾, and David Rice, pastor at First Presbyterian Church, will discuss Climate Change and the Church.
  • Dec. 6: Laura Sirot, associate professor of biology at the College, and Chelsea Churpek, social worker and trained sex educator, will present The Science of Sex Education.

The ˾ Science Café was established to provide a forum in the ˾ community for dialogue between the public and scientists about contemporary topics. All events are free and open to the public.
